Preparing for Pregnancy
Give your future baby the best possible start, long before you see two lines. I'm Oksana, a HCPC-registered clinical dietitian, and I help you and your partner prepare your bodies for conception with calm, evidence-based nutrition. No fad diets, no guilt - just a practical plan that fits your real life.
Does this sound like you?
- You've been trying for a few months and wonder whether your diet plays a part.
- You have PCOS, endometriosis, insulin resistance or a thyroid condition, and you've been told it "might make things harder".
- You're preparing for IVF, ICSI or IUI and want your body in the best shape.
- You've been told to "just relax" but you'd rather do something practical.
- You're lost in conflicting advice online.
- You simply want to give your baby the healthiest possible start.
If you recognised yourself in even one of these, you're in exactly the right place.
Why nutrition matters
Why nutrition matters before you conceive: The three months before conception are a genuine window of opportunity. An egg takes around 90 days to mature and sperm around 72–90 days to develop: so what you and your partner eat today shapes egg and sperm quality. It's never "just the woman's job": male factors are involved in around a third of couples. Good nutrition supports hormones, ovulation, egg and sperm quality, steady blood sugar and the nutrient stores your baby relies on from day one : folate, iodine, vitamin D and omega-3.
How I can help you prepare
No restrictive "fertility diets" or forbidden-food lists. I look at your whole picture: cycle, history, blood results, conditions and your real everyday life and we build a preconception plan you can actually follow. Together we'll:
- Understand what's really going on: cycle, symptoms, diagnoses, recent bloods
- Fill the nutritional gaps that matter most for fertility and early pregnancy
- Balance blood sugar and support your hormones through food, not fads
- Reach a healthy, realistic weight: only if relevant for you
- Get the right supplements in place, and cut the ones you don't need
- Support your partner too, because you're in this together
